Hans, österreichisch-kanadischer Mediziner, * Wien 26. 1. 1907, ✝ Montreal 16. 10. 1982; ab 1934 Professor in Montreal. Im Rahmen von Hormonforschungen begründete Selye die Lehre vom Anpassungs- oder Adaptationssyndrom für durch Stress hervorgerufene Reaktionen des Körpers; er erschloss neue therapeutische Möglichkeiten und gab der allgemeinen Pathologie neue Impulse.
